Our
Solid
Wood Veneers quality takes top priority. We hand
select only well
manufactured tight cut veneers. Tight cut veneers are defined
as veneers with shallow lathe cracks and we pick only the tightest cut
portions of the production run. Buyers take for granted that
wood is all the same but in fact there is a difference from one piece
or batch to the next. The better quality the
wood the
better and
more stable the final product.
The
moisture content of the veneer at pre-production and during production
is thought to be one of the most critical pieces to the puzzle when it
comes to long lasting failure proof engineered hardwood
flooring.
Our manufacturing process only uses saw cut veneer instead of
rotary cut veneer because often times rotary cut uses moisture to ease
in the production of these veneers.
MAGNEWOOD only
uses plain sawn or quarter sawn lumber!!! The veneer should
have a critical moisture content of 6% at the time of pressing and some
veneevrs
may require re-drying at the time of pressing to flatten them
out. Our Solid Wood Veneers
are critically controlled in a stable 6%
environment all the time and its this step that some say is the
critical link in controlling facial checking failures.
Core
base construction is
critical step in the production. Because our competitors
use wood or plywood base construction there are important steps that
must be taken to ensure that the bond between veneer and base is
very strong. The moisture of the base should equal
the moisture of the veneer and the fibers of the traditional base must
run perpendicular to the direction of the grain in the veneer otherwise
facial checking failures will surely result.
Our
MAGNEWOOD does
not have these issues at this step because the
base is a core of stone/wood pulp composite and therefore is extremely
stable. There are no directional grains to worry about and thus this
step provides us the added security that our final product will be
flawless.
We use no
water in our glue like some engineer
flooring manufacturers and thus eliminate the added worries of a
outside moisture source entering into the production process.
We only use
hot presses and thus reduce again
the amount of water moisture that is allowed to enter the production.
Also, at post production we store our pressed planks in a
climate controlled air conditioned environment for 3 days to allow the
boards to enter equilibrium.
Solid Wood
Veneers are
actually 2.5 mm's and 4.5 mm's at
post press production and thus have to be sanded to remove the .5 mm
from the surface.
This process removes whatever lathe checks
that remain after production to ensure a tight veneer wood surface.
All our
production is wrapped in plastic and
boxed to help reduce the infiltration of moisture at all points after
our flooring leaves the factory.
There
is no step that is
overlooked during and after the production process
securing our goal of
being the best manufacturer of the most worry free flooring in the
industry!!
